What Makes a Good Battle Royale?

Released back in 2017, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds _ started the battle royale craze across the globe. One year later, _PUBG Mobile was released, allowing eager fans to play on their mobile devices wherever and whenever they wanted to. The announcement of a faithful PUBG port to phones was exciting for fans who don't have a console or PC, and were stuck playing PUBG clones . PUBG Mobile 's free-to-play model also allows more players to discover the game through app stores, and allows console PUBG players to check out PUBG Mobile on their devices completely f

"In light of recent developments, PUBG Corporation has made the decision to no longer authorize the PUBG MOBILE franchise to Tencent Games in India. Moving forward, PUBG Corporation will take on all publishing responsibilities within the country. As the company explores ways to provide its own PUBG experience for India in the near future, it is committed to doing so by sustaining a localized and healthy gameplay environment for its fans," said the blog post by PUBG C

The Apex Legends roster is now up to fifteen characters, and each of them possesses unique abilities and personalities that keeps players' experiences fresh. It's not absurd to assume that the Legends would be lining up to pick Pokémon. After all, neither of them are strangers to the concept of a friendly battle. Pokémon similarly have unique abilities that, on occasion, mimic those of apex season 12 Legends' Legends, making them perfect sidekicks to the act

With this in mind, games like Call of Duty: Warzone and Fortnite seem to have an edge in the battle royale market due to their free-to-play nature. While most battle royale games have adopted this free model, other games like Battlefield 5 and Fallout 76 added battle royale modes to full-priced games post-launch. Locking this mode behind a paywall didn't seem to sit well with players and possibly limited its potential audience. So, battle roles with a free module supported by cosmetic progressions seem to be the baseline for the rec

Although video gaming streaming platforms have been around for nearly a decade, the battle royale genre has brought a large number of viewers to the streaming sites. This is because the battle royale genre is as fun to watch as it is to play. While many other first-person-shooters give players endless lives until a certain score limit is reached, the idea that the player only has one chance to win raises the stakes and makes watching more exciting. Since battle royales became popular, some Twitch streamers have become as recognizable as high profile celebrit

While this was the case before, Fortnite has shown that the battle royale genre is the perfect style of game to lengthen a game's life. Through season passes, map changes, and in-game events, Fornite is still the most popular game in the world, three years after lau

PUBG Mobile offers more game modes to players than PUBG does, with Arena, Playlab, and War being included. PUBG Mobile also has rotational modes for players to enjoy at different times. PUBG simply has Team Deathmatch aside from the classic Battle Royale. PUBG Mobile also has Ranked Solos, Duos, and Squads instead of being unranked. PUBG only offers Ranked Squads, so Solos and Duos are purely unranked, although Ranked Solos are com

One feature that PUBG Mobile has is visual audio cues. When a player shoots or walks around, it'll be shown on nearby players' minimaps, even if their device is on silent mode. This allows players to know where an enemy is, making it easier for PUBG Mobile players to locate and fire at opponents. Another location-based feature is the blood marks on a player's screen. If a player is shot at and hit, they will get a red mark on their screen in the location at where they were shot from. This lets players quickly turn to eliminate their opponent, or to run away and find cover quickly without needing to worry about where their enemy precisely

This battle royale formula can be compared to following an online recipe in a lot of ways, however. Simply following the recipe line for line doesn't always guarantee a tasty dish, and adding things to the recipe could make the meal worse if the cook has a different palette than those that are eating. Too much sugar in the recipe could leave diners satisfied temporarily, but still hungry for more within 20 minutes of finishing the meal, whereas too much salt could render the food so vile that someone may never want to return to an establishment ever again. In this sense, the ingredients for a battle royale game could help determine whether or not players come back for a second or even a third help
