When you're up close, the Yellow Wind Sage uses several melee combos. His most commonly used combo is a single horizontal swing, followed by a back-and-forth double swing, and then an overhead slam that sends out spikes in a line ahead of him. Much like when he uses the overhead slam after firing a wind blade, you can dodge to the side and counterattack while he recovers from the final slam. Stay mobile and dodge the combo until he performs the slam, giving you the perfect opening to counterattack. He will also perform a two-step attack where he stabs his staff into the ground, then jumps and performs a stomping attack. Dodge as he stabs down and again as he stomps, then get in a few hits if you're feeling confident.
The Yellow Wind Sage's most frustrating attack during this phase begins with him running at you and performing a quick kick. If you don't dodge the kick he'll launch you into the air and begin a lengthy and unavoidable combo attack that will usually drain most of your health , if not all of it. Watch for him dashing at you to perform the kick and get out of the way by any means necessary since this attack is a grab and ignores invincibility effects like Rock Solid and Resolute Counterflow .
This is a ranged attack that is easy to notice when the boss is about to use it, but because of the delay due to the attack animation, it becomes difficult to dodge it precisely. Elder Jinchi will most likely use this attack when the Destined One is far away.
