DecemberBethesda's Starfield Game Gets Possible Release Date
Dubbed Fallout in space, the gaming world seems to have forgotten about Starfield until now. When a post by ResetEra user AAMARMO suggested that the title could be a mobile game, it was quickly rebuffed by fan Potterson's claims that not only will S tarfield follow in the footsteps of the Fallout games, but that it is coming to E3. Such wild claims could lead to Potterson being banned from the forum; however, administrators have issued the following statem
Starfield creator Bethesda Game Studios is helping to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation's Mid-Atlantic chapter’s Evening of Wishes: Hope from Home auction by donating an eye-catching prize: the chance for the auction’s winner to create a character in the studio’s anticipated science-fiction title. Starfield was first announced during Bethesda’s E3 showcase back in 2018 standing alongside games like Rage 2, Doom Eternal , and the company's long-awaited next entry in the Elder Scrolls series . However, like The Elder Scrolls VI , Starfield ’s E3 reveal consisted of a short trailer that showed off little of the actual g
In the years that followed Starfield 's announcement, the company has not greatly expanded fan’s knowledge of what to expect for the title. After the news hit last month that Bethesda had been tapped to work on the new Indiana Jones game, many worried that games like Starfield would be pushed back . Bethesda’s Pete Hines was quick to assure players after the announcement that the publisher and developer was still focused on its other new IP. This sentiment has recently been backed by one industry insider who claims to have reason to believe Starfield could be coming out during the latter half of this ye
Following that was a worryingly-long segment dedicated to Bethesda’s terribly-structured, microtransaction-laden mobile title Elder Scrolls: Blades . The presenters were chided on Twitter for insinuating that we all love mobile games—a great deal of us don’t—and the whole thing culminated with the announcement that Blades would be making its way to the Nintendo Switch sometime this fall, which still isn’t reason enough to check it
However intriguing this auction prize may be, it still does not give fans much more concrete details about the game itself. There may be some news on the horizon, though. Jeff Grubb, noted industry insider, hinted on his podcast last week that Microsoft may currently be planning an event in which the company will discuss its intentions for Bethesda. There has been no official word about this from either company, howe
Yet, some are speculating that Starfield ’s development could be further slowed by Bethesda’s refusal to move on from the dated Creation Engine. The system, which was used to develop The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in 2011 and was based on the incredibly old Gamebryo engine, is really beginning to show its age, and it could very well be that even a heavily modified Creation Engine will struggle to support such an ambitious project. We know that Fallout 76 could hardly handle the demands of online play, let alone Todd Howard’s infamous "sixteen times the detail" lark, and it’s hard to imagine that something fantastically larger in scope and scale could possibly keep up on an outdated framew
In a surprising social media post, Bethesda revealed that it has donated a bundle to the Make-A-Wish Foundation's auction. The highest bidder for the company’s package will have the opportunity to make a character for Starfield . In addition, the auction winner will walk away with an Xbox Series X, recalling that Bethesda recently announced that it would be acquired by the console’s creators , and sixteen titles from the studio. Several of the games seem to come from some of Bethesda’s most popular franchises including The Elder Scrolls, Wolfenstein , and Doom . At the time of writing, the ongoing bidding for made my day the Bethesda bundle is just north of $2,000. Interestingly, the auction’s website goes into slightly more detail about what the winner can expect than the studio's post. It states that the highest bidder can look forward to working with the team behind the game, naming Todd Howard specifically, and that the winner should expect to " schedule time to create the character within 3 months of 2/28/202
It's hard to say exactly what this will mean for the games until fans can learn anything at all about them. Howard mentions that the next-gen technology is " optimized for the vast worlds we love to create ," and given Bethesda's commitment to producing larger worlds for each successive game in the Elder Scrolls franchise, it can likely be expected that both of the upcoming titles will feature open worlds on a truly impressive scale . The precise details of what else these new engine overhauls will bring are completely unkn
Todd Howard has promised that Bethesda's upcoming titles Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 will be running on technology that represents the company's biggest engine overhaul since the release of Oblivion back in 2006. This bold claim comes in the wake of Microsoft's massive buyout of ZeniMax Studios and all of its associated studios, including Bethesda. The buyout cost Microsoft $7.5 billion and results in the company owning the rights not only to Elder Scrolls and Starfield but to Doom , Fallout , and many other franchises as w
