The prime example that comes to mind is The Black Armory from the "Season of the Forge." This was something built up as offering players a special kind of new weapon to chase via a new kind of public event. Both of these claims were true, but unfortunately the forge events wound up being overly grindy (and poorly balanced at first), and the weapons largely weren’t worth the effort. Successive seasons have had similar struggles, but not to the same degree and were largely successful.

The Magnificent Armor is where the real work begins. Each player is gifted a Renewed set of armor that has low stats and looks old and dilapidated. Every piece of the set has a subset of tasks associated with it. These might include goals such as Complete Five Strikes, or Get 50 Precision Kills, or other things to that effect. Once players complete all requirements on all five pieces of gear, the armor can be upgraded to the Majestic versions with higher stats and better aesthetics. As with most purchases put in front of Guardians, the ornaments can be bought with Bright Dust, a currency earned in-game, or Silver, the premium currency bought with real cash. The set costs either 6000 Bright Dust or 1500 Silver. For a straight comparison, 1500 silver is about $12-$15 depending on the silver bundle size purchased. Keep in mind, access to the entire Destiny 2 season of content and battle pass is 1000 silver. Bright Dust is a little trickier. The majority of players use a single Guardian as their only character in the game. A single character has the ability to earn 1200 Bright Dust per week if they complete all of the proper bounties. That means for one guardian to acquire their one set of armor, they’ll need to complete every available bounty for five straight weeks. If players want the armor on all three characters, it will require triple that effort. This is a lot of work or a lot of money to ask of players for a set of cosmetic orname

This is an easy one but an important first step. Due to all the change that has come with Forsaken getting one’s bearings on what all has changed with menus and inventory will be the most important. There are now Triumphs to be tracked, Collections to be had and an assortment of other things that are all around different. The Cryptarch can now break down Shaders in quantities of five; all those Shaders going to no use? Head over to Rhaul and he’ll be happy to get rid of them quickly as you can hit a button over and over (took me less than five minutes to get ride of most of my useless Shaders). Players returning might also notice that all of the modifications are null and void. This is due to the entirely revamped modification system, so might as well delete those too. Don’t freak out seeing that light level of certain items has gone down, this is just the modifications being useless and one’s Light Level going up will quickly fix this.
