PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds August Update Detailed; Includes First-Person Servers, Xbox One Controller Support, and More

PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS is a last-man-standing shooter being developed with community feedback. Starting with nothing, players must fight to locate weapons and supplies in a battle to be the lone survivor. This realistic, high tension game is set on a massive 8x8 km island with a level of detail that showcases Unreal Engine 4's capabilit

Well, after the massive success of Redemption it is safe to say that Rockstar has the time and resources for a much smoother development of RDR2 , which should me it would be much easier to port the code to

A large portion of that can be attributed to its incredible popularity with streamers on YouTube and Twitch , but even more of that can be given to the fact that, even in its Early Access state, Battlegrounds is an incredibly-nuanced multiplayer experience worth playing, even if survival/Early Access games aren't necessarily your thing. Take that recommendation from someone who - prior to Battlegrounds - wasn't exactly a fan of the rising "survival sim" genre (particularly on Steam) in the slight

Over on the Steam community forum for the title, developer Brendan Greene (aka "PlayerUnknown") outlined what players can expect from the next Monthly Update for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, which includes a hefty number of updates for the game. Specifically, these include a new car horn feature when driving vehicles, the addition of first-person only servers for the game in Solo and Duo game types for North America and Europe, support for the Xbox One controller, new weapons and character customization options, and much m

Bluehole and PLAYERUNKNOWN (Brendan Greene) have been hard at work on their latest patch for PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS . The Early Access Month 2 Update brings a new vehicle, a new weapon, client performance optimization and much more. The update is scheduled to go live on May 25 5PM KST/1AM PDT/8AM UTC and is expected to take approx. 1 hour to compl

The core idea of PUBG is easy to grasp and immediately accessible, though there are additional layers to the gameplay that make surviving to the end (and winning the game's signature "chicken dinner") even more challenging. While PUBG 's roots can be traced to several different "battle royale" and survival games like DayZ and Arma II (with developer Brendan Greene's earliest concepts for this game coming from his work on mods for both of those titles), its success can easily be tied to how it boils down the core concepts of survival into a streamlined, satisfying, and heart-pounding experie

A great addition to GTA 5 was first person mode, turning the more action-oriented segments of the game into a first-person shooter. Personally, I can find third-person or over the shoulder gameplay a little harder to navigate when caught in a firefi

Rumors are swinging all over the internet about the new style of locomotion system, with many believing that not only will you now be able to rob a train, but in some instances, you could steal one, just as you would a horse. How do you stage a getaway on a linear track, tho

A new post on the community forums for PUBG on Steam revealed that a new update will be heading to the game's PC version, hot on the heels of the recently-released patch for the Xbox One version of the title. Specifically, the new update packs in bug fixes and seeks to address more of the game's technical performance, while introducing some new cosmetic changes, such as a new design for the energy drink so it looks less like a knockoff Red Bull

Outside of the game's more randomized elements, as a shooter PUBG Taego drop spots 's combat feels breakneck and challenging. Coming from the lineage of military sims like Arma , death in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds comes quickly as it only takes a few shots to take down most players (or potentially only one with a well-aimed headshot). This quick time-to-kill though comes down on both sides, as PUBG employs several elements to keep the combat and gunplay as unpredictable as the environments. That aspect of the combat comes through bullet drop and the varied amount of weapon attachments and upgrades that can be tailored to specific players' preferences, whether they opt for being more efficient at long range or close range, and m

Even though I've only put a few hours into Battlegrounds at this point since jumping in, I can already see it as a title that I'll more than likely come back to in the coming months. With rounds that usually extend for me around 20-30 minutes (if I don't get killed right from the get-go), the game has drawn in me like few others ever have, much less any type of survival sim or Early Access game before it, and most of that comes down to its incredibly streamlined sense of survival at play, and how it draws players together in a fight to the finish. To say Battlegrounds is exhilarating is an understatement: even in its earliest state right now, I've kept coming back to the game night after night because it's gotten my blood pumping like few other games have in the past few ye
