While Red Dead Redemption 2 is very much a "Rockstar game" that allows players to create as much horse-and carriage-fueled chaos as they like, one of the most notable additions to the game is the integration of new layers of interactivity between the player and other NPCs out in the world, including the ability to take a bit more of a pacifist approach to most encounters.

Though Red Dead Redemption 2 offers plenty of chances to take on other characters in a violent manner, if you're looking to settle conflicts with random characters out in the world, consider trying a more civil approach first by talking them down before drawing your guns. For example, if you happen to accidentally run over a civilian or a traveler gets wary of you, try focusing on them and seeing if you can defuse the situation first by talking them down. If that doesn't work and guns get drawn, you can also aim your weapon and press up on the D-Pad to aim your weapon in the air and fire a warning shot. This is more than enough to get the message across that you shouldn't be messed with and can scare other characters away, but without drawing any bloodshed.

As you spend time with your horse, you'll be able to increase its stamina and health the more that you ride it and care for it, such as feeding it, brushing it, and calming it when it's frightened or startled. However, you can also unlock new abilities and tricks in Red Dead Redemption 2 once you increase the bond with your horse at certain levels, such as rearing and a quick turn maneuver to avoid danger ahead.

If there's one thing Rockstar nails, it's scope. Their games might not be as 'deep' of role-playing games as their Bethesda counterparts, but they're every bit as meaty and way more technically advance. Rockstar's major releases always push the boundaries of what people think is capable on the current hardware. They take their engine and push it to its absolute limits. With the recent release of PS4 Pro and Xbox's Project Scorpio imminent, look for Red Dead Redemption 2 to be featured heavily on both of those platforms. From just a few hours with Red Dead Redemption 2 , I went from executing a train robbery, to riding on my steed across the vastness of the Western landscape, to infiltrating a rival gang's camp and brutally taking them out. I went from roaming through the wilderness and taking in its serene beauty, to riding alongside the rest of my gang through the snowy mountains, to viciously engaging with the law and avoiding imprisonment at their hands.

When it comes to Westerns, many people's first thoughts center around cowboys, outlaws, and rebels. Many people forget how influential Native American lore and folktales are to the same time period in which many of these Westerns took place. It was really interesting to see how many references to Native American culture were included in the teaser trailer. There's a scene where two unidentifiable characters are traversing a river in what seems to be a canoe. If you pan up and to the left, you can clearly make out a dream-catcher in the tree that's placed in the foreground. Native American tribes played a huge part in the history that shaped the American Mid and Southwest.
